Becoming a CNA allows individuals of all ages and backgrounds to enter into the Healthcare field without having to commit to earning a degree in the field. Bianca completed the CNA program through Sunnyside Retirement Community earlier this year. “A lot of people that are in nursing programs tell me that starting as a CNA is the best thing to do because you get hands on practice and learn bedside care,” Bianca recalled when asked why she pursued taking the course. The CNA course offered at Sunnyside removes the financial and time burden to those who want to gain insight and experience to help determine if this the right career path for them. Often times, Sunnyside CNAs will use this a growth opportunity towards Pre-PA, LPN or RN, Pre-Med, and many other options.

“What I enjoyed most about the class was when I finally got to do the hands-on experience,” Bianca remarked. Our course will give you the tools you need to be successful as a CNA through a variety of different experiences. There is online class work, in addition to clinical hours and learning labs. We are proud to get consistent feedback from CNA students that have felt that they are equipped with the tools and knowledge they need to be a successful CNA. “I remember I was so afraid of touching (people) and now I’m so comfortable with them. I love all of the residents.”

Upon successful completion of the course, Bianca and her classmates have been offered full time positions at Sunnyside. Not only has she had the opportunity to learn and grow, but now has the opportunity to continue her experience and work toward the PA career she is interested in pursuing. “If I wasn’t at Sunnyside, I wouldn’t be working in a medical based job. being at Sunnyside has better prepared myself for my future in healthcare. I am extremely grateful to work here and enjoy my time here at Sunnyside.”
