While a career in senior living wasn’t always something Jacob Bell knew he would be interested in, he did know that he was interested in learning more about the culinary field. Summit Square was the perfect place for him to start exploring – “I have been interested in cooking my whole life,” Bell remarked. “I was a server when I started and my supervisor asked if I would like to advance my career to become a cook. I have learned all the different aspects of the kitchen through my promotion”
But Jacob isn’t going to stop there – he says, “This is a career for me. This is so much more than just a job. It is possible to progress – you just have to show that you are interested. Those at Summit Square were the first people who were invested in me.” The next step on his journey is that he would like to become a chef, and his team is here to support him! There’s nothing like the feeling of a resident recognizing the quality of work that is being done, and Jacob has been encouraged by sentiments like that to continue chasing his dreams.
At Summit Square, we are a team. “There are always people looking out for me, and I am always looking out for my team. We don’t just work with the kitchen staff – we work with the nursing staff and people from the other floors, and I feel like the residents have shown the same care for me as I have for them.”
