As the holidays approach and the year winds down, gratitude feels especially meaningful across Sunnyside, Summit Square, and King’s Grant. Every campus has its own rhythm and personality, yet all three share a spirit of generosity, joy, connection, and purpose. This season, we are reflecting on the many blessings that shape our communities and the people who make them extraordinary.

Here are ten things we are thankful for this year.

1. Residents Who Fill Our Campuses With Life

Our residents continue to inspire us with their stories, curiosity, resilience, and humor. They bring warmth to every hallway, strength to every gathering, and a sense of purpose that carries through our programs and traditions.

2. Staff Who Lead With Heart and Make Us a Great Place to Work

We are deeply grateful for the dedicated staff across all three campuses. Their compassion and commitment were recognized in a meaningful way this year when Sunnyside Communities earned Great Place to Work Certification. This reflects something we already know. Our staff are the foundation of our mission.
We are equally thankful for the support systems in place for them. From the Staff Emergency Relief Fund that helps team members through unexpected hardships to wellness and vitality programs that encourage movement, mindfulness, and whole person health, our staff continue to be cared for as they care for others.

3. Families Who Support and Encourage

Families walk alongside us through every season. Their partnership, their trust, and the love they show to their residents add another layer of connection to community life.

4. Beautiful Campuses That Restore and Inspire

There is a sense of peace in the morning sunlight over the lake at Sunnyside. There is a feeling of welcome when you walk through the front door at Summit Square. There is a quiet calm beside the ponds at King’s Grant. Our surroundings remind us every day of the restorative power of nature and beauty.

5. Programs That Bring Joy, Wellness, and Vitality

From fitness classes to creative arts, from water aerobics to continuing education, from devotional gatherings to musical performances, our programs support meaning and wellness in every form. Residents stay active physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, and that vitality fills our campuses with energy.

6. Volunteers Who Give Generously

Volunteers are a steady and joyful part of our communities. They offer time, talent, and companionship. Their gifts uplift residents and strengthen the mission we live out each day.

7. Dining Experiences That Bring People Together

There is something about sharing a meal that creates connection. Our dining teams prepare meals that comfort, nourish, and turn an ordinary weekday into something memorable. From holiday menus to everyday favorites, their work brings people around the table with gratitude.

8. Partners Who Help Us Grow and Serve

Local organizations, churches, healthcare partners, schools, and civic groups all support our mission. These partnerships expand our reach and help us offer a deeper level of care, engagement, and enrichment.

9. Generosity That Changes Lives Through the Fellowship Fund

The Fellowship Fund is a cornerstone of our ministry. It provides financial support to residents who need assistance and ensures that no one loses their home or their place in the community due to circumstances beyond their control. We are profoundly thankful for every donor who keeps this promise alive and thriving.

10. A Sense of Belonging That Connects Us All

What we are most thankful for is the feeling that welcomes you the moment you step onto any of our campuses. A sense of home. A sense of community. A sense of belonging. It is the heart of Sunnyside Communities and the reason we look forward to every new day.
