Sunnyside Retirement Community was recently featured in several local news stories highlighting both resident engagement and leadership insight in the senior living industry.
Two stories gained widespread attention for Sunnyside residents’ participation in naming a bald eaglet through a national contest hosted by Friends of Big Bear Valley in California. The eaglet, now officially named “Sunny,” was selected following resident submissions and voting at Sunnyside’s Harrisonburg campus. The coverage appeared on WHSV-TV and in The Daily News-Record, shining a light on the community’s spirit and creativity.
In addition, Sunnyside President and CEO Josh Lyons was interviewed by WHSV-TV to provide expert commentary on the potential impact of proposed Medicaid funding changes on senior living providers across the region. The segment underscored the important role Life Plan Communities play in the broader health care landscape.
From meaningful resident involvement to thought leadership at the executive level, Sunnyside continues to lead with purpose and presence—on campus and beyond.
