Sunnyside Communities is proud to announce that all three of its Life Plan Communities, Sunnyside in Harrisonburg, Summit Square in Waynesboro, and King’s Grant in Martinsville, have received the 2026 Customer Experience Award from Activated Insights, a nationally recognized customer satisfaction firm.
Activated Insights partners with more than 1,800 care providers nationwide and conducts approximately 112,000 confidential customer interviews each year. Only providers scoring in the 85th percentile or higher, representing roughly the top 15 percent of participating organizations, receive this distinction.
In addition to this recognition, Eiland Assisted Living Center at Sunnyside in Harrisonburg was named among the nation’s Top 100 Customer Experience Award recipients for 2026. Out of more than 1,800 participating care providers nationwide, only approximately the top 5 percent achieved this highest distinction. This additional honor places Sunnyside among an elite group of providers demonstrating exceptional resident and family satisfaction, strong accountability, and a clear culture of continuous improvement in a highly competitive field.
The awards are based on confidential interviews conducted with residents and families over the past year. Recognition places each honored service area among the highest performing providers nationwide, reflecting exceptional performance and a strong commitment to continuous improvement.
Across independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing, residents highlighted excellence in overall satisfaction, nursing care, personal care, dining service, cleanliness, communication, responsiveness, dignity and respect, therapy services, transportation, activities, and overall customer experience.
In skilled nursing neighborhoods, residents and families praised clinical expertise, compassionate care, individualized attention, and strong communication. Professional therapy services, admission processes, and consistent responsiveness were also recognized as best in class.
In assisted living, feedback reflected attentive personal care, high quality dining, meaningful activities, clear communication, and thoughtful move in experiences. Residents noted the professionalism of staff and the culture of respect that defines daily life.
In independent living, residents emphasized dining service, transportation support, engaging programming, and effective resolution of questions or concerns. A significant number of residents indicated they would recommend their community to others, one of the strongest indicators of satisfaction.
“This recognition is especially meaningful because it comes directly from the voices of our residents and families,” said Josh Lyons, President & CEO of Sunnyside Communities. “Their feedback affirms the dedication of our teams across every campus and every level of living.”
The breadth of these awards underscores the organization’s comprehensive approach to excellence. From nursing care and therapy services to housekeeping, culinary programs, activities, and communication, the results reflect a culture grounded in dignity, responsiveness, and consistent service.
