Art has a way of connecting people across oceans, languages, and generations. This year, that connection stretched from Martinsville all the way to Indonesia and Japan.

Eleven King’s Grant residents were featured in the 3rd Annual Virtual International Art Show, an exhibition bringing together artists from the United States, Indonesia, and Japan. The virtual showcase celebrates creativity at every stage of life and highlights the universal power of artistic expression.

Among the featured artists was King’s Grant resident Emily Hartzell, whose piece was selected for the prestigious “Cultivating Purpose” Award. The honor recognizes artwork that reflects intention, growth, and meaningful engagement, qualities that perfectly capture both Emily’s work and the spirit of our community.

For many of the participating residents, the experience was about more than recognition. It was about sharing perspective. It was about continuing to create. It was about proving that purpose does not fade with age. If anything, it deepens.

The celebration does not stop there. Several of the featured works will also be on display locally at the upcoming Piedmont Art Show from January 24 through March 28, giving the community an opportunity to experience the talent of King’s Grant residents in person.

At King’s Grant, creativity is not a pastime. It is a way of life. From studios to stages to international screens, our residents continue to show that the next chapter can be just as bold, vibrant, and inspiring as any that came before.
