Right before Christmas ten Sunnyside residents and four Harrisonburg middle school youth completed the annual “Dolls, Quilts and Cradles” project for The Salvation Army. This annual undertaking has been a part of our Christmas preparation for many years. Twenty or more cradles are made each year with the woodworking done on the cradles, the dolls are bought and the youth help sew the quilts. The students wrap the dolls in the quilts they make and tuck them into the brightly decorated cradles.
This project is an important one as it is an inter-generational event that involves our residents and youth partnering to give back to our community.
